An independent publishing house

Anthracite Publishing House is the independent publishing arm of MDS Works LLC. Its list includes philosophy, scholarship, essays, and literary fiction.

The house is built to support books whose arguments, forms, and intellectual demands benefit from close editorial direction. Each title is considered as a complete object: manuscript, typography, material production, metadata, distribution, and long-term record.

Institutional relationships

Anthracite is the publisher of AEVITAS; it does not replace the series’ own philosophical and visual identity. The Living Ethos is a separate public media and content platform. MDS Works LLC is the legal parent and holding company.

Editorial scope

The publishing program begins with work by M. D. Shafer and is structured to support outside authors over time. Submissions are not currently open.
